St George's Church was one of the first established in Harold Hill when the then new estate was built following the second world war. As we know much of the East End of London had been bombed out and there was a shortage of proper housing for the men returning from war and their families. St George's Church has grown from relatively humble origins as a plant from St Edward's Church in Romford and has steadily increased in size and function. It is now a large building which houses the Centre with offices, cafe and hall which hosts many community groups as well as our dedicated worship space.
St George's Church is literally at the centre of Harold Hill and aims to serve the people who live here as the praying heart of the community.
